Greg Rutherford and the World Athletics Center
Greg Rutherford is a track and field athlete for Great Britain who competes as a sprinter but whose real speciality is as a long jumper. Rutherford came out of nowhere at the age of just eighteen when he won the 2005 AAA Championships, becoming the youngest person ever to do so. Rutherford then showed that that early success was no mere fluke, going on to win a string of further awards, including at the Commonwealth Games and the European Athletics Championships in 2014, the World Athletics Championships in 2015 and the gold medal for long jump at the Summer Olympics in London in 2012; a title he will be attempting to defend at the Rio Olympics next year.
